A two-day professional development workshop was held at the SHEPC Learning Center on August 7 through August 8 , 2014.  Funded through a U.S. Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grant, workshop speakers presented information on the following topics:

 

  • Career Coaches:  Taking Advantage of Different Approaches
    •  Introduction to Strength-based Coaching/Positive Psychology Coaching/Contemplative Career Coaching
    • Helping Skills
  • Career Coaches:  The Lynchpin for Students in Transition
    • Career Transitions - Walking through the Natural Cycle of Change
    • Career Transitions - Walking through the Quadrants and Exploring the Psychological Barriers and Obstacles
    • Career Transitions - Accessing Motivation in Your Client and Goal Setting
  • Career Coach Roles and Responsibilities - Brainstorming session
  • Exploring the CHEO Allied Health Hub

The workshop objectives for the primary audience (CHEO Career Coaches) were to:

 

            • Take away additional approaches that could be used to enhance their daily interactions with students.
      • Learn how the career hub could serve as a solution to challenges they face in meeting grant requirements.
      • Understand how the career hub could support their work in developing internships.
